Jeff Griffith to perform at charity event

Jeff Griffith will entertain guests at the 5th Annual Hootenanny: Dancing For OUR Stars on Thursday, November 13. Sponsored this year by Pioneer Drilling and held at Pearl Stable, the event is the primary fundraising endeavor for Kinetic Kids, the San Antonio-based organization founded in 2001 to enrich the lives of children with both physical and cognitive disabilities through sports and recreation activities. Since its inception, the "Hoot" has generated over $115,000 in donations, and the organization has served nearly 3000 kids. This year's entertainment includes dinner, dancing, an auction and the music of country traditionalist, Jeff Griffith. Tickets start at $75; the fun starts at 6:30 p.m. and interested partygoers can contact Trisha Box at 210-289-4929 or tbox@gvtc.com for more information.

"This is my second opportunity to perform for a cause close to my heart," Griffith says. "I come from a big family, and have three children of my own. I'm always willing to give my time to Kinetic Kids. I hope everyone comes out and enjoys the show."

Michael Scott fo visit troops

Rocky Comfort Records recording artist Michael Scott will make a special trip to visit the troops at the Warrior Transition Center in Hawaii later this month. He is scheduled to appear at the Schofield Barracks/25th Infantry Division located in Oahu, Hawaii on Saturday, October 25 where he will mix and mingle and perform for the army soldiers. Located on an 18,000-acre site in central Oahu, the army base is the largest post in Hawaii.

"The special group of men and women who are at the Warrior Transition Center are those who have gone overseas to fight and have returned to our homeland with a physical or emotional impairment," Scott introduced. "This is my second performance for the troops (I went to Iraq last Thanksgiving) and the folks at WTC are 'this close' to returning to their families. I'm in hopes that the music brightens their faces and heightens their spirit to make them feel like they're one step closer to home. It's an extraordinary experience and I'm pleased to visit with my American brothers and sisters who sacrifice their lives so that we can all live ours freely."

Michael will host a listening party at the barracks to introduce his music from his new CD, entitled BRING IT ON, to the troops during a special luncheon. Following the luncheon, Scott will perform in an acoustic show and host a personal meet and greet and autograph signing session at the conclusion of the event.

"The Hawaii Army Department of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation thanks Michael Scott for spending time with our troops and performing for them. Opportunities to partner with great Americans like Michael play a giant role in keeping the Army community strong," said Matt Enoch, CPRP, CPSI, CPP--FMWR Recreation Center Program Manager.
