Never Too Late
DeAnne Moore
3 1/2 stars (out of 5)
DeAnne Moore provides a solid debut with her album Never Too Late. The 12 songs in this collection have a modern country sound that make a nod to country tradition with a strong use of fiddles throughout. Many of the songs on this CD perfectly fit DeAnne's voice, which is strong, clear, and filled with emotion.
There are a lot of up-tempo numbers on this CD and only a couple of ballads. I would have liked to have heard a little more variety, but that does not diminish the great songs that are on this CD.
DeAnne has included several fun, fiesty, filled-with-attitude songs. "Cowboy Talkin'" asks the question of whether the cowboy approaching her wants something more than a whiskey-inspired flirtation. "I Ain't Through" is a great kiss-off song that will inspire women to stand up to their insensitive, uncaring men. She's not through with love, but she's through with him!
The title track is another upbeat song, but this one has a wonderfully positive message. There are times when things are tough and don't go the way you want them to, but you have to keep trying. It's never too late to pick up and start again.
Some of the best songs on the CD are the ballads, which is why I wanted more of them! "Fool For Love" is a beautifully constructed and performed song about a woman learning that, although she may get hurt, the only way to truly find love is to totally open herself up to it. "Wrote That In Blue" is an emotional story about a father and young daughter separated because he is a soldier. The letters they write to each other are written in different colored crayons. DeAnne's vocals perfectly convey the bittersweet emotion of the story.
DeAnne Moore has a great start to her music career with Never Too Late.
